has entered the occupational health and safety arena with a new safety
matting range aimed at reducing fatigue and preventing slips. Managing
director Tom Ralph said the decision to include this range was made
after market research and feedback from its customer base indicated
that clients were becoming more interested in prevention rather than
cure.
Each year in NSW alone some 7,000 injuries result from falls on the
same level. According to figures from WorkCover Authority of NSW, this
incidence of three injuries per 1,000 workers per year costs the state
$86 million. With the Authority increasing fines for unsafe floors by
as much as five times what they were previously, plus the steep rise in
litigation and settlement costs as the result of accidental falls and
worker fatigue, employers have more reason to take a hard look at the
flooring provided for their employees.
While there is a far greater willingness to address such issues today,
employers are still concerned to make every dollar count in terms of
value and quality. “The new ranges of economically priced
safety
and anti-fatigue matting will help employers find a costefficient way
meet occupational health and safety obligations in wet and dry areas of
the workplace,” observed Ralph. “The pricing should
also
attract employers who previously believed they could not afford
comprehensive safety underfoot.”
Anti-fatigue mats provide true comfort, enhance productivity and
increase job satisfaction while reducing lost work days and claims by
employees due to fatigue and strains. Industrial matting is regularly
overlooked by many companies, however this range offers anti slip
properties ultimately rewarding the employer through less lost days.
Entrance matting can save thousands of dollars in contract cleaning
costs, as these products will capture, trap and hold unwanted dirt and
moisture. Compliance matting offers the employer a range of matting
that complies with State and Federal Health and Safety regulations, as
well as building and insurance requirements.
“We will be holding stock in our Sydney warehouses of a large
range of matting and hope to serve our customers with the traditional
professional services currently established in capital
equipment,” Ralph advised.
