When Graphic
Laminations’ managing director, Richard Dunn, saw
Autobond’s new MINI 105 XL laminator (pictured above) at the
recent PrintEx show in Sydney, he was so impressed that he bought the
machine off the Graph-Pak stand. “Sometimes when you see
something you just know that it is right and the new MINI 105 XL sold
itself to me on the spot,” says Dunn, who formed the
Melbourne trade house in 1989. “We operate a range of
laminators but have never had a machine from the UK manufacturer
Autobond. However, I knew of its reputation and when I saw the MINI 105
XL the quality of its construction was obvious. Also, the ability to
laminate 105 x 1400mm stock, both sides in one pass, matches perfectly
the requirements we have to handle high volumes of large sheets.
“The installation and training from local agent Graph-Pak
went extremely well and we’ve already successfully laminated
a wide range of work, spanning a variety of runs lengths, sheets sizes
and stock. The operators like the MINI 105 XL’s ease of set
up, which enables fast makeready between jobs, while the Heidelberg
feedhead has proved particularly popular as it permits continuous and
accurate feeding of a wide range of types of stock.”
Autobond’s MINI series of sheetfed laminators are extremely
compact and speeds of up to 60 metres per minute allow very high
productivity. The laminator can apply matt or gloss OPP and acetate
film on to stock ranging from 90 to 650 gsm. Features include remote
diagnostics facilities via Siemens electronics, a touch screen control
panel, PLC and inverter drives, a digital sheet counter, adjustable
anti-curl bar, pneumatically adjustable in-feed nip rollers and a
pneumatic air clutch to provide a constant tension between the
laminator and the sheeter.
“I made my decision to purchase the MINI 105 XL within hours
of PrintEx opening,” says Dunn. “Within the first
few weeks of operation of the Autobond laminator I am one hundred
percent convinced that it was the correct choice to make.”
