Landmark Press expects to cut the manpower
needed to collate folders by more than 75% after investing in a new
Col-Tec collator.
The Carrbridge, Inverness-shire-based company publishes material for
the Scottish tourism industry, including 120,000 welcome folders per
year.
The 'browsers', which are found in more than 95% of local visitor
accommodation, were previously collated by hand, but will now be
automatically produced using the new 24-station B3 portrait-format
Col-Tec.
The company expects to use six members of staff to man the operation,
which previously required 40 full- and part-time employees.
The information packs range from 45pp to 80pp and feature leaflets and
tourist material.
The 27-year-old firm's finishing battery also includes a James Burn EX
610x530 high-speed automatic punch and BB50 automatic Wire-O binding
machine.
Landmark Press collation manager Fiona McAdam said: "It's exciting
– the staff are up for a challenge and because the browsers
look so much more professional, we have confidence it will be worth all
the planning and reorganising of the past year."
