Webstar.
The impending commissioning of a new press line lead management at
Webstar to identify a need to replace its two original stackers
installed in 2002 and 2003. “We were struggling with the
quality, and the level of output on our presses was being compromised
by the performance of the stackers,” noted Darryl Meyer,
logistics manager at Webstar. “The cycle times were too slow
and quality of bundle output was not up to standard. This dragged
additional labour to the press and impacted further in the bindery by
reducing performance.”
After canvassing the market, Webstar settled on three RIMA-SYSTEM 32
compensating stackers which were seen to be the ideal machines for
high-speed, high-volume applications. “The RIMA-SYSTEM 32
compensating stackers are a higher spec machine. The cycle time is
superior to other competing equipment, they are robust, low maintenance
and the touch screen control panel provides simple user-friendly
operating control,” Darryl added. Adding to the ease of
operation are swivel-mounted guards, which provide easy access to
format adjustment, and the central bin adjustment. The high,
three-stage upper bin with slightly inclined forks, forms neat drops
that the turntable, with integrated compression plates, turns into
perfect stacks. The ‘intelligent’ pusher in
combination with the pivoted delivery table guarantee soft and
controlled stack ejections even at the shortest cycle times.
Installation and commissioning were carried out by Graph-Pak, the
Australian agent for RIMA-SYSTEM. Darryl was full of praise for the
company and technician Michael Timms. “Graph-Pak’s
installation and commissioning was seamless. The machines were prepared
and basic testing completed offline meaning press downtime was
minimised to less than an hour for the change over from our old
equipment to the new RS32 machines. The installation technician was
very experienced with the equipment and provided on the job training to
all of the operators.
“The RS32 is suited to a broad range of products.
Webstar’s success is turning a difficult product to print
into an easy one and considering the RS32’s efficiency in
handling a broad variety of shapes and paginations and quick setup
times assists our total operation.”
